This Sunday 7 November 2010 it’s free entry for children to see their first Picasso at the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s Italian Festival Day, a celebration in theme with the Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice exhibition. (Adult admission charges apply).
Families can take advantage of this unique chance to see works by famous artists including Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Vasily Kandinsky, while enjoying a fun-packed festival day with activities for all ages.
The Gallery will be transformed into a vibrant tribute to all things Italian, including:
Venetian mask-making;
story-telling and face painting for children;
roaming musical and theatrical performers;
glass art demonstrations and Bocce games in the Cultural Centre; and
an Italian inspired menu at the Art Gallery Café.
All comers are also invited to join three of Perth’s best known celebrity chefs, Vince Garreffa, John Maiorana and Nunzio Nici, who will whip up some fine Venetian cuisine on the Gallery Terrace where visitors can sample the gourmet food and fine Italian wines.
