Fall points the traditional opening of the art season, and this year it brings Art Madrid On Paper, new art fair that complements the fair’s calendar with an specialized event dedicated to two dis- ciplines in growth and evolution: contemporary printmaking and drawing. Art Madrid On Paper wants to be part of this art revolution and how its authors look for new artistic languages and perspectives using traditio- nal techniques. Drawing and engraving, disciplines with deep roots in the history of art, have been reinvented by emerging artists and photography, in turn, is experiencing a new moment of splendor since the great out- break of the medium between the 1970s and 1990s.

Art Madrid On Paper claims and promotes the role of paper in contemporary aesthetic practice, paper understood not only as a medium, but as a catalyst for artistic discourse and material of reflection itself. The plastic properties of paper and the modern printmaking, their multiple character, and their potential for research and surprise, make these disciplines an engine of contemporary creation. In this way, Art Madrid On Paper wants to give the original work on paper the place that corresponds to it and become the most outstanding specialized art fair in our country.

Drawing, original printmaking, artist’s book and photography will be the protagonists of this fair endorsed by a selection committee made up of renowned curators, gallery owners and art professionals specially formed on these disciplines. The fair will also have a complete calendar of parallel activities dedicated to the work on paper, its narratives and its commercial channels.
