Fine Art Asia 2015

Hong Kong

Fine Art Asia showcases museum quality works of art, spanning 5,000 years of cultural history from antiques to contemporary art. A gilt bronze Tara dating from the Yongle period (1403-1424) of the Ming Dynasty was exhibited by Rossi & Rossi, London and Hong Kong, at Fine Art Asia 2014.

The fair presents an amazing variety of 20th to 21st century masterpieces. The monumental bronze “Horse” by Jean-Marie Fiori (b. 1952) exhibited by Galerie Dumonteil, Paris, Shanghai and New York, was a stunning centrepiece of last year’s fair.

Fine Art Asia is unique in presenting exceptional fine art from both East and West. “A Flower Still Life” by Jean-Michel Picart (1600-1682) was among Old Master paintings shown by Douwes Fine Art, Amsterdam, at Fine Art Asia 2014

Fine Art Asia 2015, Asia’s leading international fine art fair, will return to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from Sunday 4th to Wednesday 7th October 2015, with a VIP Preview and Vernissage on Saturday 3rd October.

The fair will present a collection of museum-quality fine art displayed by 100 prestigious international galleries. In 2014, Fine Art Asia hosted 93 exhibitors and attracted 23,560 visitors. More than 6,500 outstanding works of art were displayed, with a total value of HK$2.8 billion.

Fine Art Asia 2015 is staged at the peak of the October art season in Hong Kong and coincides with Sotheby’s auctions in the same venue. A sophisticated, appreciative audience includes major dealers, collectors, curators and art lovers from throughout Asia as well as from all over the world.

Highlight Galleries
Fine Art Asia 2015 will host 100 world-renowned galleries. Returning to the fair in the antiques section are leading international dealers such as Rossi & Rossi, London and Hong Kong, with rare Buddhist Hindu paintings, sculptures and ritual objects from China, India and the Himalayas; Robert Hall, London focusing on Chinese snuff bottles; Vanderven Oriental Art, The Netherlands, presenting Chinese porcelain and works of art; Koopman Rare Art, London, showcasing fine antique silver; Susan Ollemans, London specializing in antique Indian jewellery and Chinese works of art; and Somlo Antiques, London, showing exquisite antique timepieces.

Art & Design Pavilion
An exciting addition to Fine Art Asia 2015 will be a new pavilion dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design. It is envisaged that the pavilion will comprise around 10 leading contemporary art and design galleries.

Highlighting the pavilion as the “Global Ambassador for Design” will be the French designer, Olivia Putman. Daughter of Andrée Putman and heir to her mother’s legendary design studio, Olivia Putman’s works range from interior architecture to scenography and design.

On display at the Art & Design Pavilion will be vintage and contemporary design furniture, ceramics, jewellery, glass, lighting and decorative art from the 20th to 21st century. Since Fine Art Asia was founded in 2006, the fair has consistently pioneered new collecting trends in Hong Kong. This new initiative will no doubt kindle interest among Asian collectors for collecting art and design.

A Unique Fair
Fine Art Asia, founded in 2006, is the only fair in Asia to showcase a wide range of collectible fine art from both Asia and the West. On display will be Antiques including ancient Chinese bronzes, rare Himalayan, Central Asian and Islamic art, Chinese ceramics, lacquer wares, furniture, textiles, snuff bottles and scholars’ objects; Old Masters, Impressionist and Modern Art; Jewellery, Silver and Timepieces; Contemporary Art, Chinese Ink Painting; and Design and Decorative Art.

Hong Kong is the focal point of the art market in Asia and one of the top three art auction centres in the world, along with New York and London. With world-class galleries and art fairs, it plays a vital role in the global art market. Fine Art Asia 2015 provides the perfect platform for international galleries to cater to the evolving tastes of keen and knowledgeable collectors in Asia.
