With renewed effort and fresh faces, ART Copenhagen's fair committee will cement the event's position as the leading showcase for contemporary art in the Nordic countries. Also, we proudly present SAS as the official airline of the fair.

ART Copenhagen The Nordic Art Fair 2008 takes place in Forum Copenhagen, September 19 - 21, 2008. The leading art fair in the Nordic countries, ART Copenhagen is the annual rendezvous point for members of the Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish art scenes, and it attracts gallery owners, collectors, artists, curators and art enthusiasts who gather to meet the players and to experience the latest trends.

"We strive to create the perfect platform from which leading Nordic galleries can expose their art. At the same time, we wish to give a national and international audience a unique opportunity to experience and buy a high-quality selection of contemporary and modern art under one roof in Forum Copenhagen," says ART Copenhagen's project manager Lisbeth Kystgaard Olsen. "We look forward to following through on the strong interest in the fair and carrying out all our new ideas.

It's important for us that ART Copenhagen is an Artistic experience for everyone and that it remains interesting for artists as well as art professionals, the business community and the curious." In order to maintain the high level of ambition and to further develop the fair's form and content, new people have joined the fair committee. "This year we have invited Jesper Elg from the fledgling V1 Gallery to be part of the committee and he brings a lot of great energy," Kystgaard Olsen says.

Elg himself confirms that ART Copenhagen is on the right path:

"We're very excited to be part of ART Copenhagen The Nordic Art Fair 2008, which has grown in both quality and ambition over the past three years. By joining the committee, we hope to be able to contribute to making the fair an even more interesting and exuberant experience."

One of ART Copenhagen's chief challenges is to be the leading art fair, not just in Denmark, but in all of the Nordic countries. In this regard, ART Copenhagen is well on its way, according to committee member Ola Gustafsson of Elastic in Malmö.

"2008 marks our fourth appearance at ART Copenhagen. We will continue to build on the important collaborative contacts we have made from 2005 to 2007. The Danish collectors are adventurous and impulsive, but with a great eye for quality and interesting art. Copenhagen and Denmark are ever more important markets for the gallery, especially when it comes to private collectors. Denmark's many fine galleries have created this atmosphere and have made it possible for ART Copenhagen to become an interesting art fair in Northern Europe," says Gustafsson of Elastic.

ART Copenhagen is also proud to present SAS - Scandinavian Airlines - as official airline. This means that guests and participants can save up to 20 percent on plane tickets to and from the fair.

ART Copenhagen The Nordic Art Fair 2008 will open its doors to invited guests on the afternoon of Friday, September 19. The fair is then open to the public through Sunday, September 21, 2008. This annual even attracts more than 12,000 visitors who come to meet the important players and experience the new trends. By featuring both the artistic heavyweights and brand new talents, ART Copenhagen presents a broad and qualitative selection from the contemporary art scene, be it photographs, installations, ceramics, paintings, sculpture, drawings or video.

ART Copenhagen The Nordic Art Fair 2008 has been held 13 times and has existed in its current form since 2004. The fair is owned by Forum Copenhagen, which is responsible for the artistic management and selection of participating galleries, along with the fair committee. The fair committee consists of gallery owners Jesper Elg (V1 Gallery), Jens Faurschou (Galleri Faurschou), Ola Gustafsson (Elastic), Nils Stærk (Nils Stærk Contemporary Art), art collector Leif Djurhuus, event manager at Forum Copenhagen Jeanette Annfeldt, project manager Lisbeth Kystgaard Olsen and head of press Carla C. B. Strube.

The participating galleries will be announced at the beginning of April 2008.
