For Salone del Mobile 2019, Maruni will create a stand concept that focuses on blurring the boundaries between the home and office environments, whilst celebrating their iconic HIROSHIMA sofa and MALTA table by Naoto Fukasawa with new special-edition oversized versions. They will present these along with new launches from Jasper Morrison and their Art Director, Naoto Fukasawa as part of S.Project, the new exhibition at the Fiera in Rho.
The stand design by Naoto Fukasawa aims to create a sophisticated lifestyle environment consisting of architectural elements, such as large glass surfaces and pivotal columns at the centre. The stand expresses a high quality space that blurs boundaries between the home and office environments. Furniture selected for the home, office or public spaces are no longer strictly defined for their application: one may choose a dining chair or sofa for an office, and a piece designed for an office can be selected for the home. With broader range in the collection, the stand also suggests a relaxing and personal atmosphere that connects a furniture piece and the user.
The space will also be dedicated to Maruni’s new special edition oversized HIROSHIMA Sofa, which will extend to six metres long, and the oversized MALTA table, which will be six metres long. Both by the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, the HIROSHIMA sofa and MALTA table are available in a variety of sizes and combinations and suitable for contract and home-use.
A variety of iconic pieces from the MARUNI COLLECTION will welcome visitors at the entrance of the stand, whilst the walls will feature panels of chairs in different editions, showing the variety in the collection.
Maruni is one of the furniture manufacturers to be selected as part of S.Project, a new exhibition format dedicated to design products and decorative and technical interior design solutions.
A multisectoral focus is a distinctive feature of S.Project. It is a space showcasing a vast array of goods ranging from interior and outdoor furnishing, to wellness products, fabrics, lighting, acoustic solutions, coverings and finishes.
It is not just an event; it is also an opportunity for reflection on the new perspectives that enable companies to work increasingly “synergically” together. S.Project will act as a new business-to-business platform that underpins the alliance between retail, designers and companies, providing an inclusive experience and the ultimate networking environment. It is the ideal place for showcasing manufacturing quality and excellence and new design concepts and innovative solutions for designing spaces.
President Takeshi Yamanaka comments:
“Over the years, the HIROSHIMA armchair by Naoto Fukasawa has been one of our most popular designs, selected for many projects in the home, work environment and public spaces so we are pleased to be celebrating the range at Salone del Mobile 2019.
We are delighted to have been selected for S.Project for 2019 and our new stand concept will focus on the new dynamic in interiors that blurs home and office environments, within a beautifully designed space by our Art Director, Naoto Fukasawa.”
Taking place in Hall 22, the Maruni stand will present their latest furniture collections, including new editions of the Roundish armchair by Naoto Fukasawa and Fugu dining chair by Jasper Morrison.
Naoto Fukasawa comments:
“The uses and applications of spaces are no longer strictly defined. There are also no more divisions between different categories of furniture, like between office and dining room chairs or between different types of sofas. This is because our modern era requires high-quality spaces and furniture that fits into our various lifestyles. We have created a booth that responds perfectly to the needs and trends of this modern era.”
The Roundish armchair designed by Naoto Fukasawa is characterized by the backrest, the arm and the seat being in one, unified shape. A single piece of laminated plywood has been twisted and bent in three dimensions, giving the user a comfortable feeling as if they are being enwrapped. A thin cushion has been added that further increases this feeling of snug comfort.
The Fugu chair designed by Jasper Morrison is a solid-wood chair, finely crafted to create its beautifully curved surface using the cutting-edge technology that the Maruni Wood Industry is known for.
