Over 75 international galleries will be exhibiting fine art from over 2,000 artists throughout the five-day fair held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center which kicks off with a special Collector’s Private Preview by invitation only on January 16 at 6 to 10 pm.
FLOW is a new pavilion dedicated to both important historically important video art and cutting- edge animation art is curated by the fair’s 2019 guest curator, Erich Weiss. Featuring videos from the esteemed collection of Elayne Mordes of WhiteSpace Contemporary, the pavilion will display a variety of short experimental films from the 80s and 90s by 20th century icons Peter Fischli, David Weiss, Bruce Nauman, Hans Op de Beeck and Isaac Julien while simultaneously introducing new trends and technologies in the ever-evolving field of video art and animation. Ahead of the fair, organizer Lee Ann Lester says, "ArtPalmBeach aims to bring together young and experienced collectors while promoting a dynamic environment that truly embodies South Florida's contemporary art community."
Other features include an art performance by Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen, a Danish visual artist. Her performance, Tow With the Flow, sheds light on the western world’s uninhibited obsession with textiles and fashion and its negative impact on the world’s environment. The artist uses themes from the UN Global Goals Manifest to shed light on the importance of environmental sustainability through poetry, music and interpretative performances featuring high school students and fabrics from the award-winning Scandinavian design studio, sur le chemin. The artist will offer collectors a unique viewing of this performance during the 22nd edition of the ArtPalmBeach fair.
Another new addition to the 2019 edition of the modern and contemporary Palm Beach fair is the DESIGN Pavilion, which provides a specialized area showcasing Scandinavian artists creating functional art in the form of jewelry, furniture, décor, glass and more. DESIGN aims to satisfy the demand for high-end collectible designs while broadening awareness of Nordic modern art. In addition to non-conventional art forms, denizens of ArtPalmBeach can peruse sculptures, paintings, ceramics and photography works by influential artists like Gritt Sanders, Nina Nørgaard, Christian Brunn, Vera Kulju and more.
In addition to the exhibitions and pavilions, ArtPalmBeach 2019 attendees can enjoy on-site lectures and discussions, guided tours and nightly events hosted by various sponsors.
This diverse selection of contemporary and modern artwork will be on display in West Palm Beach, FL at the Palm Beach Convention Center from January 16 –20, Noon - 7 pm. Valet, self-parking, bars, restaurant and espresso cafes are available.
