As part of a multi-institutional collaboration, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21) is pleased to announce the presentation of three episodes of web series What is Deep Sea Mining? (2018-ongoing) at LOOP Barcelona and La Casa Encendida, Madrid.
Commissioned by TBA21–Academy and developed with curator Margarida Mendes, What is Deep Sea Mining? is an exploratory video documentary by artists duo Inhabitants, founded by Mariana Silva and Pedro Neves Marques. Centred on one of the most compelling ecological, social and economic issues affecting the world ocean, What is Deep Sea Mining? interlaces different voices and perspectives to build up an awareness on how the mining industries are threatening the ocean’s depths and its seabed ecologies.
From November 19 until November 24 the first three episodes of the series What is Deep Sea Mining? will be shown at La Casa Encendida, Madrid.
The work is on view at LOOP Barcelona, on the online platform VIDEOCLOOP, from November 12 until December 12.
As part of the public program of LOOP Barcelona, on Tuesday November 19 at 10 am, TBA21 curator and artistic director Daniela Zyman presents the talk Re-socializing Institutions of Care.
