Paul Ernst Klee (* December 18, 1879 in Münchenbuchsee, Canton Bern; † June 29, 1940 in Muralto, Canton Ticino), the German-Swiss painter and graphic artist’s versatile oeuvre includes Expressionism, Constructivism, Cubism, Primitivism, and Surrealism. Like his friends Lyonel Feininger and Wassily Kandinsky, Klee taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1921 and later in Dessau. Paul Klee is one of the most important artists of 20th century classic modernism.
